The smallest breed...

The Nigerian Dwarf Goat is of African origin and were first imported to North America in the 1960’s. Nigerians are a true miniature and ideally have proportional head and body for their short stature. Nigerians are still considered rare by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy. Nigerian Dwarfs are approved as livestock dairy goats which makes them eligible for 4H projects.

These goats require little space for feeding and housing. They are generally personable and easy to handle and rarely have the inclination to bite or bunt. They are a hardy, naturally healthy breed and their food intake is small. For their small size, Nigerians produce a surprising quantity and quality of milk. They are easy to transport and ship by air or car in medium to large dog kennels, even as adults.

Taylorside’s small herd of Nigerian Dwarf Goats includes 3 billies ranging in size from 15 inches to 24 inches tall. We have 6 nannies in a wide array of colours ranging from solid brown to black with white patches and tan spots. We expect to have our back yard bouncing with goat babies in the spring.
